Dr. Abbatelli is an Italian, bilingual psychological associate. received her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from La Sapienza University of Rome. She subsequently earned her Master of Psychology (M.Psy.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from George Washington University.
Dr. Abbatelli completed her doctoral internship at the Howard University Counseling Center, where she worked with university students and young professionals. Additional clinical experiences during her doctoral training included providing psychological services to adults and adolescents at George Washington University Hospital, Thurgood Marshall Academy, the DC Superior Court Child Guidance Clinic, and George Washington University Center Clinic. Dr. Abbatelli has experience working with diverse clinical populations and a broad spectrum of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, immigration and marginalization, family dynamics, and interpersonal difficulties. Dr. Abbatelli’s therapy adopts a trauma-informed lens, conceptualizing her client’s internal worlds through psychodynamic, relational theories, attachment theory, and family systems therapy. She is a certified EMDR therapist and integrates this approach in her practice to help clients heal from traumatic or adverse life experiences. Her work focuses on creating a safe space for individuals to explore their inner worlds and their relational patterns with curiosity and self-reflection.
