Dr. Mencher has been in private practice in the DC Metro area since 1998 with offices in Psychotherapy Dupont Circle and downtown Bethesda, MD. She works with adults and young adults primarily in individual psychotherapy.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and her MA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. As part of her doctoral training, she completed a pre-doctoral internship at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, DC. She held a postdoctoral fellowship at Georgetown University Counseling and Psychiatric Services where she worked with undergraduate and graduate students providing risk assessment, intakes and psychotherapy.
Additionally, she has received advanced training in Reproductive Counseling through Covington and Hafkin, a private practice associated with Shady Grove Fertility. She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and their Mental Health Practice Group. She runs several support groups with Lori Klein, LCSW. These include a monthly support group for Single Mothers by Choice and another 6 session support group for Mothers of Newborns.
