Dr. Gaughan is a clinical psychologist licensed in Washington, DC and Virginia. She received a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology from Divine Mercy University. She joins the practice after working as a staff psychologist and the Director of Outreach at the Catholic University of America Counseling Center. Dr. Gaughan completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Georgetown University’s Counseling and Psychiatric Services and her doctoral internship at the Baylor University Counseling Center. She has worked with a wide variety of clients in both private practice and university settings. Dr. Gaughan’s theoretical orientation draws primarily from a psychodynamic, interpersonal, and emotion-focused framework for therapy. Her clinical interests include working with anxiety and mood disorders, trauma recovery, identity development, spirituality, and family of origin concerns. She strives to offer a space where her clients can process their experiences and deeper emotions, gain insight into relationships, and address behavior patterns. Her ultimate goal is to help her clients better understand themselves and collaborate with them to make the changes they seek.
