Dr. Diab is a New-York licensed clinical psychologist. She holds a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree from the George Washington University (GWU) in Washington, DC, a Masters of Psychology (MPsy) degree from GWU, and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in psychology from The New School in New York. Throughout her education, she received training in treating adolescents, adults, and couples, and she completed a pre-doctoral internship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. After graduation, Dr. Diab completed her postdoctoral fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where she specialized in treating adult inpatients who struggle with addiction and co-morbid mental health diagnoses such as mood disorders, personality pathology, and psychosis. Dr. Diab describes her approach to therapy as one that is collaborative, eclectic, and individualized to the needs of her patients. She believes that the therapeutic alliance accounts for a large percentage of positive clinical outcomes, and building a safe and trusting relationship with her patients is a primary aim of her work. While her therapeutic orientation is rooted in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic theory, Dr. Diab integrates other therapeutic approaches into her work depending on the individual needs of her clients, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based and third-wave approaches. Dr. Diab is multilingual in English and Arabic, with some understanding of French.
